Wilma F. Ackerman, 100, nee Freedman, of Philadelphia and formerly of Millville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the Pennsylvania Hospital.

Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Ackerman lived most of her married life in Millville. She was married to the late Samuel Ackerman, whose Ackerman’s Furniture Store was a major outlet in Millville for many years. Mrs. Ackerman will also be remembered as the owner & operator of The Children’s Shop, which offered upscale children’s clothing. Mrs. Ackerman was very active in the Millville and Philadelphia communities, volunteering for many different organizations including; Penn Hospital, Millville PTA, Jewish History Museum and the McCall School.

She was well regarded for her needlepoint and quilting skills. Her true passion, though, was being with her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

This past March the family was able to have a couple of beautiful celebrations for her 100th birthday , which everyone enjoyed.

Mrs. Ackerman is survived by a son: Bruce (Martha) of Princeton; daughter: Harriet of Philadelphia; 2 grandchildren: John & Robin; 3 great grandchildren: Henry, Theo & Dylan and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Samuel.
