Thomas K. “Tom” McCorristin, 60 of Millville, NJ passed away on Tuesday after an extended illness at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in Millville, Tom was a lifelong resident.

 

Tom was a Millville Senior High graduate, class of 1976. He then went to work for Birds Floor of Millville for 10 years. He then started his own flooring business, McCorristin Floor Coverings and continued that venture for 12 years. Tom then went to work for Vineland Tile working as an estimator and served the company for over 20 years.

 

Tom was an avid sports fan and enjoyed his playing and coaching days. He enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and also enjoyed playing Slo-Pitch Softball for various teams in the area. Tom always enjoyed getting out on the golf course and playing a few rounds with his buddy’s. Tom was a member of the infamous “Links and Drinks” Crew that would descend on Myrtle Beach annually for many years.

 

He is survived by: wife, Peggy; daughter, Devon Steigerwald and her husband Daniel; step-son, Edward Whitehead; brothers, Mike McCorristin and Terry McCorristin; step-grandson, Joshua Whitehead; step-granddaughter, Abby Klinck; mother in law, Barbara Nichols; sister in law, Andrea Saito and her husband Leighton; brother in law, Billy Nichols and his wife Kim, John Nichols and his wife Tracy; he also is survived by several nieces and nephews.   Tom was pre-deceased by: father, Thomas E. McCorristin; sister, Kathleen McCorristin; father in law, Bill Nichols; sister in law, Cynthia Miyamoto.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held this Friday at the Rocap Shannon Memorial Funeral Home where relatives and friends will be received from 6-8pm. A short Memorial Service will start at 8pm.
