Russell Thomas Sassani, 85, of Vineland, passed away on January 10, 2018. Russell was born to the late Rosario & Pasqualina (Tucci) Sassani in Kulpmont, PA in 1932. He graduated from Kulpmont High School in 1949 and then served four years in the United States Navy. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Kay (Malloy), in 1957 and together they had three sons. In 1964, they moved to Vineland where Russell began his 30 year career at the Vineland Times Journal as a typesetter. Russell was a devoted parishioner at St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church in Vineland. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family, playing the lottery and going to the grocery store.
Russell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Kay (Malloy) Sassani; his sons and their spouses, Paul and Melanie Sassani; Dr. Russell Sassani and Michael Schneider; Jeffrey and Theresa Sassani; four grandsons, Andrew Sassani, Matthew Sassani, Steven and his wife Kim Eilenberg, David Eilenberg; four granddaughters and their husbands, Tara (Sassani) and Alan Federico, Jessica (Sassani) and Ryan Grusemeyer, Juliann Sassani, and Lauren Sassani; as well as his four great grandchildren, Dillon Eilenberg, Wyatt Eilenberg, Celeste Eilenberg, and Aiden Eilenberg; as well as sister, Annamarie Reilly and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Russell was predeceased by eight brothers & sisters.
A funeral home visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:30pm to 3:30pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland.
A funeral celebrating Russell’s life will be held in his hometown of Kulpmont, PA on Monday, January 15, 2018 with a visitation from 9:45am to 10:45am with a funeral mass beginning at 11am at The Church of The Holy Angels, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont, PA. Final disposition will follow in North Umberland Memorial Park, 2956 State Route 61, Sunbury, PA 17801
