Eric H. “Rick” Dichter, Fort Myers, Florida. Rick Dichter, age 67, formerly of Millville, NJ, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening in Fort Myers, Florida after a protracted illness.

Born in Philadelphia, but a resident of Millville for 64 years, Rick was the son of the late Lenard and Rose Dichter. Rick is survived by his wife of 40 years, Aledra “Dell” (Pierce) Dichter of Fort Myers, Florida, and his brother, Andrew “Andy” Dichter of Alexandria, Virginia.

Rick Dichter was a 1968 graduate of Millville High School and 1972 graduate of Glassboro State College. Rick taught school for nearly 15 years at Ventnor and Downe Township. Rick and his business partner took over his father Lenard’s tax and accounting business and for over 20 years, was a tax preparer and financial planner for  D&H Financial Services.

Rick was a passionate tennis player, instructor, and coach throughout his life. Rick coached both men’s and women’s high school tennis at Sacred Heart and Millville High Schools .  Rick was an avid sports enthusiast.  He was also an accomplished baseball and softball umpire and basketball referee.   He was a member and treasurer of CUMCAPE Basketball Board #196.  He was also a board member of the Carmel Hebrew Cemetery.  Rick and Dell enjoyed many treasured years of tennis and frequent social activities with their many friends at the Union Lake Sailing and Tennis club.

Rick was a devoted husband, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He is survived by many family members and loving “in-laws.”  These include Andy’s wife Cheryl, Dell’s sister, Palma “Pam” Hepner and husband Donald of Ocean City;  Dell’s brother, Neal Pierce and wife Bonnie of Woolwich Township; and nieces and nephews, Brecken Ashenbrenner and husband Carl, Kyle Hepner and wife Rosemarie, Alexander Pierce, and Nicole Pierce.

Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Tuesday, January 16, at 11am at Rocap Shannon Memorial Funeral Home, 24 N. 2nd St. Millville, NJ.  Family and friends may call on Tuesday, at the funeral home, Tuesday morning from 10am until 11am. The interment will follow in Carmel Hebrew Cemetery, 380 Morias Ave., Carmel, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Rick be made to one’s charity of choice or to the Alzheimer’s Association of America, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
