Millville – Dr. Bathsheba “Babs” Yvette Bennett, age 69 of Millville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving friends, early Saturday morning, November 10, 2018 at the Millville Center. She had been in declining health for the last year.
Born and raised in Millville to the late Belford and Yvonne (Smith) Bennett, Babs graduated from Millville High School, Class of 1968. She went on to earn her associate degree from Cumberland County College and then her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education from Glassboro State College. Babs then attended Temple University, where she obtained her doctoral degree in Education.
Babs was an extremely dedicated educator and public servant to the children of Millville for over 35 years. She began teaching sixth grade history at Bacon School before becoming supervisor for over 25 years of the Millville Public School’s Gifted and Talented program, which she designed and implemented with pride. Babs served on the alumni board at CCC for many years and was even honored as an outstanding alumni. She had many achievements over the years that she was extremely proud of, especially when she was honored in Washington, DC for all of her tireless efforts in the Congressional Award Program at the Millville Public Schools.
