Millville – Donna Jean Cannon (Ford), age 69, left us on Saturday, January 12, 2019 to go to her heavenly home to be with Jesus and her parents. Donna defiantly put up a six year battle with Squamish Cell Carcinoma. Donna was the first born of Charlie and Jean (Swank) Ford born on March 8, 1949. They lived in Pleasantville until 1954 when the family moved to Ventnor Heights. Here Donna Jean was a typical young girl who was a Brownie, a Girl Scout and played many years on Ventnor Soft Ball Leagues. Donna Jean was also an award winning roller skater for the Young’s Skating Rink. Donna Jean spent many days swimming in the back bays of Ventnor, water skiing at Ski Beach and fun days on the beach with her family and friends. Donna Jean graduated Atlantic City High School in 1967. Also in 1967 she met her husband of 50 years Walt, on a blind date who was a handsome young marine on furlough from Vietnam. During their life together they had many great adventures and experienced “Life Together” that they treasured. They spent many days fishing for stripers and flounder and often had her brother Chas on board their boat the “Never Satisfied”. Donna worked at Atlantic City Hospital, Lenox China, Prudential Insurance, Chelsea Title Company, Etna Insurance, R.K Chevrolet, Leone Glass, and Ardaugh Industries. Donna loved to crochet and to travel to see her family and friends. Donna will be remembered for her confidence. If you told her something in confidence it is still with her.
