Allan “Al” Jost

Rosenhayn – Allan “Al” Jost, 77, of the Rosenhayn section of Deerfield Twp. passed away and entered his eternal heavenly home at his home on Sunday morning January 20, 2019 where he had been under the care of family & hospice. Al was born & raised in Vineland and was a lifelong area resident. He was the son of the late Clara (Fischer) & Robert Jost.

Al was self-employed as a Master Plumber for 43 years and was a longtime member of the State League of Master Plumbers. He also served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, and was a standing member of the American Legion Veterans of Foreign War and various other social clubs in this area, Virginia, and Florida.

Al was a lifelong avid gardener and fisherman. He maintained a large vegetable garden every summer, and spent many happy hours fishing on the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays and the Gulf of Mexico with friends and family. He also enjoyed golfing with his Florida buddies, and barbecuing for family get togethers. He loved frequent travel with his wife, Gloria Jean, to favorite spots such as Florida, Savannah, Virginia’s Eastern Shore, and New Orleans, as well as cruising to Alaska and the Caribbean. He loved life and said that no one had had a better life than he had.

He had recently returned from a family trip to Florida with all of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the trip immensely, and there he taught all of his grandchildren to fish. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow into the fine individuals that he was so proud of.

Al is survived by his wife of 52 yrs., Gloria Jean (Pellegrini); 3 children, Jacquelynne Steves & husband Chris, Deborah Jost-Newton, Allan Jost & wife Ruby; grandchildren, Samantha Steves Schultz and husband Jeffrey Schultz, Megan Steves, Henry Jost, Grace Jost, Dean Jost, Cordelia Newton; great-grandchildren, Jaylynn James and Anthony Schultz; brother, Arthur Jost; sisters, Theresa Kruse, Linda Gottardi, and Marilyn Jost (husband Harry Orland). Predeceased by grandson Griffin James.

Relatives & friends will be received on Sunday 1/27/2019 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Rd., Vineland, NJ where a Memorial Service will be conducted at 6:30 PM.
